Reflections on Day 1

613 miles
3 Starbucks
1.5  Tanks of gas

The Experience:  Priceless

I had plenty of time to think today, and did very little of it.  I chose, instead, to notice.   I cannot do both at the same time.  It was a long day, but nothing was rushed, and potentially annoying incidents were intercepted or balanced out by someone's kindness.

I was tired during the final hour of driving.  As I reached the coast near Ventura, the sky was almost dark. The few clouds looked as though they had been painted with an artist's brush to create silhouetted fingers against the night sky. Simon and Garfunkel were singing "A Bridge Over Troubled Water" and I reflected on how truly fortunate I am to have all of you in my life.  You are all as unique as the sights I have seen, and are treasures that I hold close.

Until tomorrow.

  1. After attempting twice to leave a comment using my iPad, apparently with no success, here is another go with a Mac. Too bad too, they were very clever comments and now I just can't think of them. :) Well, just goes to show you that even techie people have problems with technology. Oh, and by the way, this is now the 5th or 6th time I have attempted to post the same comment with no luck with the site. That is, no messaging stating that there was an error, just the post text goes away. So, I would suggest to your readers that they copy the text they write just in case it does not work and they have to attempt it again. This time, I created an account and signed in, lets see if it works.

Never heard of Salvation Mountain, the Banana Museum, nor the bottle tree ranch. Ok, is it a ranch or a garden? (or a junk yard) I was wondering if there were any public phones left, and now I know. That is quite a lot of paint, a lot of time, and a lot of passion that went into that work. Thanks for sharing your trip with us, it is interesting. Oops, the site does not handle more than a small windows' worth of words very well, that will have to be enough. :) Enjoy your trip, looks like a lot a fun and a lot of driving.

    1. Hey Teckie...Did you try the technique I mentioned on the 3rd post of my blog? Just wondering if that does not work from an iPad. Love you!

    2. Yes I tried your example. I believe your Instructions are correct but for some reason they just want working on my Mac or my iPad.

  4. MY reflections on day one...

Christie looks great in banana colored sports coats...but yellow text does not a good headline make.

If God is available by phone, why all the prayer?

Bottle trees are made with bottles AND typewriters. Can't wait to tell my students.

Can't wait for the next installment.
